Yes, I agree with you. Perhaps it is way the cups/hplip driver communicates
with the printer.

And, by the way, the printers worked well when I was on Kubuntu 12.04 on
32-bit.
I changed my system in a 64-bit (with KDE 4.10.1), I don't know if it could be
relevant.
