I just did some testing, using a ~800 pages long document and okular 4.13.0 and
xorg-server-1.15.1 on Gentoo amd64.
On my desktop, using proprietary Nvidia drivers, I can easily make okular use

Currently none. Judging from releases it should have been kde-4.10.2 and
Qt-4.8.4.

Yes please it'd be helpful, as of modern Okular and Qt versions we should not
be using any X memory unless you are forcing not to use the Qt raster engine
(which we don't).
