This weekend we decided to visit the Texas Hill Country and see the Boerne Swap
Meet. It was a small meet in the fairgrounds. We did not see any of the big
vendors or much old truck stuff but it was still a success for us. I found an
original fresh air heater that per the seller is working and

The antiskid stuff they add is playsand. Most will state it has silica
added for antiskid.

I ordered the Offy 2 carb intake for my 53 235 in my 3/4 truck. I went
to order a pair of Carter YF's to go on it and was amazed by the number
of different Carters that will go on that era 235. What specific model
numbers do you guys suggest for the Offy intake?

I think there's an anti-skid additive that can be
stirred into the mix if it doesn't have that already.

What is 'scavenging'?
I don't have headers on my Pcup or Burb yet but they will be there sometime
so I don't have decreased gas mileage due to a lead foot or sweet sounds.
The gas mileage will probably go down after installation even after
rejetting and timing probably due to the foot and soun

Thanks for the info, Nate. Every website I've seen recommends etching the
concrete with muriatic acid. I know I've read on this list that this stuff
can be dangerous. Am I right? If so, what's the best way to use
itsafely? I'm building a new shop, so the concrete is new.

Great work, Deve! It's always great to see other members' trucks. Thanks
very much for having such a great site to put these on. Much appreciated!

Hard to say without being there to diagnose it in person but ;
In general headers reduce back pressure and this makes the engine run
leaner , requiring more foot feed to get the same effect as before .
Simple thing is to raise the float level a little bit , if this helps

Prep is the key ~ I think the final step is to etch the concrete with
phosphoric acid to ensure good bonding .
Make sure you get the typ of coating that has anti-skid properties
else you'll surely slip and get hurt as the other stuff is like greased
glass anytime it gets water , oil or even dus
I'd only use the 1,000 grit of finer (Crocus Cloth etc.) because
you're trying to polish it , not sand it down , once you've hit it
with 300 grit (rather coarse BTW) you'll need to spend even more time
on it with the 1,000 grit to ensure no gouges are left from the 300
grit stuff .
I hope th
a disassembled truck is often put in boxes, thus the moniker "basket case".
