George,
Yes, that's what I thought. I didn't even consider impurities but was
worried about shadowing. Same reason you cant rechrome rims with a deep
set for the trim ring. Chrome doesn't flow into spaces that have parallel
surfaces.
If anyone else has any tips let me know. I didn't take
When I did mine, the plater insisted it was taken apart. No matter how
clean in between the gaps, there are impurities, Start drilling:)

This is changing the topic a bit but from time to time I see
unbeliveable deals on e-pay, but the seller will only approve your
bid if you email first. I figure these are just scams to harvert
email addresses, Am I right, or what's up?

Hey guys, have a question here. I am going to do my grill and bumpers
chrome. My original grill is in fabulous condition, it doesn't even have
rust on the back of it. It has maybe a couple of dings that could be taken
out without taking apart the rivets. So my question is will chrome flow
What was stock on early ('49 for instance) AD's - 15"
or 16" rims? And were they all 6 hole rims?

Matt,
I have struggled with these types of feelings many times. I have restored a
few other cars. Envision yourself at a car show. Are you there because you
love old cars? Or, are you there to win trophies and show everyone how
"original" your truck is in say a 1000 point judged event? I
Matt,

Your code says:
J = 1951
A = type of vehicle
A= Flint Michigan
and 211649 (GM used "I" instead of "1" in the codes back then) is the sequence
number.
Check out the site. Your truck is a 49, right?
I have a 49 216 out of my 49 3600. It ran when I pulled it out, but had low
compression. It is just worn out, needs a complete rebuild. It will be next
week before I can ck the number, it's in a warehouse on a pallet. I saved it
for some unknown reason. It's free for picking it up - the parts I'm k
Well, from the feedback thus far it sounds like the engine was
replaced at some point. Bummer, as I had finally made the decision
to stick with the 216. Now that I got it in my head I'm going to
stay all original, does anyone know of a 1949 216 with a case number
the matches a truck??? Accor
Thanks, Been there great site. A wealth of info...

Roy from the list brought up a good point in that he suggested I check
to see if this is the original 216 that came with the truck before I
go to all the time and expense of rebuilding it. I can read the
number quite easily and here is what I foundÂ…

Durwood, by "clamshell taillight" do you mean the regular AD taillight lens
with the clear section on the bottom to light up the license plate? If so,
I think most of the vendors carry them. When I was installing the new
taillights on my AD pickup, I dropped one of the lenses on the concrete a
Where could I find the license plate lens for the AD 5 inch clamshell tail

as the gaskets for the bullet lights? AD Burb vendors?
