Rick,
I have found that some of the server based spam filters reject Yahoo Groups.
You need to tune those settings or change programs.

Casey ;
The passenger car 235's use _fiber_ cam gears and when the teeth rip
off it makes a LOUD Iip noise .
Good part is : YOU can fix it @ home ! .
get the front of the engine off and if it's the cam gear , remove
the sump for cleaning too as there's going to be a bunch of gooey
crudd
Any one else having troubles with hard bounces from Yahoo groups? Any
ideas as to what would be causing this? I assume something on my end but
I have made no changes lately. Any help will be appreciated very much.
Thanks

Putting in the 292 would not be a "bolt-in" procedure. You have to fab up
front motor mounts and would likely have to change the rear ones too as
the later style engine will have a different bell housing than the 235.
The trans will most likely fit the bell housing of the 292 bit you have
mounting
If its anything like my 216 it has a fiber timing gear on cam and that has
stripped. It happened to me and that is just what it turned out to be. Not
hard to repair but I had to replace all the exhaust push rods. Just my two
cents.

Yeah, I've seen at least one of the vendors offering rebuilts. I'll be able

I don't spend as much time on the list as I wish I could, but have noticed
that this thread seems to have sunk into the type of language that isn't
appropriate on the list. Clean up your (collective) acts folks. Not
specifically targeting Wolf...the same applies to all.

Last Friday driving home in the old panel, the engine let out a great
roar, and died. It sounded like a jake brake, it was impressive! No
oil pressure instantly, etc. Coasted to the side and waited for the
tow. That AAA membership is worth it's weight in chevy parts...

Merlin,
Thanks! From what I understand UV light doesnt limit POR's rust protection
it just makes it get chalky looking. I have noticed a few spots on my D*dge
truck where POR changed appearance but still seems to block rust. And you
know how hard that is on a D*dge.=)

I know the POR-15 is UV sensitive and I put chasis black over it ... but,
still after 3 years ... I can't find any part of my frame that sees any
sunlight. I don't know is the new chassis black POR-15 is UV sensitive or not.

I agree, no media. Anyways, the pushrods should clean up nicely in a
parts washer. I have used walnut shells on pistons to get the
carbonizing out of the ring grooves and then cleaned, cleaned, cleaned
to make darn sure there are no left-overs. Be meticulous and surgically
clean.

! NO ! _NEVER_ bead blast internal engine parts ! if you leave even
a tiny bit of bead media inside the hollow push rods (or other engine
part) , what you may think is harmless dust , will make a beeline to
the babbit in the bearings and cause engine failure .
If at all possible , use the wir

Jeff, I haven't used them, but I've heard Heavy Chevy in Arkansas does a
complete speedometer rebuild for $125. Might be worth checking out.

The pushrod just needs to be clean and straight with no damage or unusual
wear at either end. I don't recommend glass bead blasting internal engine
parts due to microscopic glass bead material remaining imbedded in the metal
parts. You can roll the push rods on a flat surface to check and see if th
