I have a homemade tow bar that I used on several trucks. 2" ball, and I remove
the front bumpers of towed trucks, make angle iron mounts to bolt to frame
ends, same as bumper used to. sometimes you need angle going back into or under
the frame edge, and sometimes bigger angle, like 3 or 4" to bo

GVW is a calculation based on tires, axles, springs, steering linkage,
brakes, frame construction, etc. and includes fuel, passengers and
cargo. Deduct the cargo rating (i.e. 3/4Ton), 120# for 15 gal gas, 350#
for passengers
Someone used to market a 4 barrel setup for 292. I think JC Whitney carried
them. I know nothing about the 3 carb setup.

Well, surprisingly enough, my 53 3800 one ton dually weighs approx 3800 lbs
with no bed. IOW, cab and chassis is 3800#. I don't know if GM did that
purposely thru out the truck line or not. Your 1 1/2 ton should weigh
somewhat more with possibly heavier springs, longer wheelbase, and larger
tires/w

grain box weigh empty? Most towbars are 5000# and if all goes well I may be
towing one with a tow bar across KS & MO
