Just brought home a 216 engine. It turns freely by hand. I hooked the
battery to the starter and it would not engage. Here is what I did. I
put jumper cables on the battery, hooked the negative end to the frame
of the engine and the other to the starter button. Nothing. I took the

I have been thinking about getting a dual manifold and puting dual
carbs on my 1952 Chevy. But, I have heard horror stories that tuning
dual carbs are nothing but a pain in the butt. Yet, I see alot of dual
carb set ups in the pics. Is there a meter I can use to set the carbs
correctly if I go
of some sort over that. Everything looks like they paid
attention to what they were doing. I'll know more when I finally fire
them up..that won't be for a while...a month maybe.

Remember to not tighten them too much! To tight can cause the push
rods to bend. I don't know the exact specs on your engine but I set
my 216 to the hot specs when they were cold. After I drove it awhile
and it heated up, I reset them to the hot specs again. I had to find
a Chilton manuel for t

Rodchester 1 bbrl carb on my 52. Earlier this year it started flooding
out so bad gas was pouring through the weep hole. Took it apart and she

off a few times and there is no way to get it back on with out a
large hammer and a piece of wood. I always use just a smear of grease

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the advise! I checked the rocker
arms and found 2 - 3 exhaust valves out of specs. So, I heated the
engine up and re-adjusted the valves that were off to book specs. I
also replaced the points and rotor and cleaned the spark plugs. She
purrs!!! The o

Scott, I had the same issue with my Chevy 216. To make it easier for
you, you may want to take the side cover off. You may not have the
rod on top of the lifter. The side cover gives you access to see that
the rod is on the lifter. Just mark your wires on your coil so you
know where they go bac

in my 52 Chevy works fine but since you can't get gears for these
transmissions anywhere, I figured I would get the GMC transmission
and keep as a spare. But I don't want it if I can't use it.
