As Nate said, if you saw oil you're fine. The only reason to put anything in the pump is to help it seal inside and prime. I've always used regular oil, you can use heavier if you like, I'm not so sure I would "pack" it with assy lube or vaseline though, it clumps and takes a bit of time and
