Hey Vinny,
I would definitely pull the body and powder coat the frame. IF the pits are
real deep, they show under the powder coat. Remember, you can choose from
many black powder gloss levels. So, semi flat of some type would look right.
If the pits are bad, you will need to skim coat the frame

I dipped mine in stripper to remove the paint, then
acid to remove all rust. Then primed and painted with
3 part PPG epoxy.
It is lots of work.
Then undercoated the inside with a kit from Eastwood.
Notice the heavy pits on the trailing arms and the
rear tubes.

Vinny,
Below is the bid I got to powder coat my frame for my Buick GS. I live
in Salt Lake City, Utah. This might give you an idea. I did get some
feedback from a Buick restorer, he said he preferred to paint his frames
because he said it never fails that you scratch or chip the frame as you

Vinny,
The list of "might as wells" will probably far outweigh the cost of the
frame blasting/painting. Once the body is off there are many things to
do that will never be easier.

Vinny,
Remember, the brake and fuel lines and associated attaching hardware are
there and need to be protected or removed. Not too difficult with the
body off. also the control arms, other suspension and steering componets my
block easy access for a sand blaster/painter. Though again, body off
go to harbor friegh and buy a cheap blaster gun and
get some sand and do it in the back yard.

Hi Jon,
I was thinking that too as far as it is not much more to do, and the bolts
are not rusty so they ***should*** come right off. All I really have to
do is drop the gas tank and rear bumper.
How much does blasting the frame cost? approximately?

If you already have the engine out and the front clip off, pulling the body
is not that much more work. And it will look MUCH better after the frame is
blasted. I'd paint it with POR-15 after it's blasted, then follow that with a
coat of chassis black. And, that would be a good time to instal
