to whom it may concern:

I used to have AOL a long long time ago
before DSL

Had a MAC at the time
"you can have a web page"
yeah, right, never did figure out how to put a single photo on it, had to give up.

later converted to PC, now have to watch viruses and spam and popups ALL THE TIME, but the loss of AOL has never been lamented. It comes in free every time I have to load Netscape again, and I always get rid of every trace of it immediately.

I do not miss the billing at all.
had a hotmail acct for years now
signed up for g-mail the other day when some snafu occurred, have not been back to that since.

Changing email address is stressful, but totally do-able.
It happens all the time.

There is life after AOL
and, it's very nice.

You can still IM folks and all that rot.
Just no bill to pay

and no hassles from the email list.

If you choose to abandon the list rather than leave aol, that is your call.
There are many other Olds forums you can visit.
RealOldsPower.com, for one, full of crotchety Cheap Ba$tards [self described]
Leaveing AOL is NOT that big of a deal.
It's a nice cradle.
But, man cannot live in the cradle forever.
