I agree, github is the best place where the community should be gathered
around.
Topicbox looks good also..

I'm happy to stick mailing lists under the same umbrella that the
illumos and SmartOS lists use.
Lists would be f...@lists.omnios.org, under Topicbox, with a searchable /
discoverable web archive like

Couldn't agree more about github; it's where community happens.
If an org is started to manage assets, and it can likely pay for hosting
out of its operating budget.

My understanding from Robert's email was that they'd hand over all that
stuff. But a "community" isn't a legal entity to which someone can hand
something over. I'm doing some research on governance models that would
most-closely emulate community ownership.

I just added my potential in paid support for OmniOS being maintained

I have to chime in. Communities aren't built on money; they are built on
time. I think there has been an unhealthy focus on how much money people
are willing to pledge without considering who would even be willing to
accept that money for their time. Those willing might not require payment
at all.

Thank you Dan, for the best Illumos distro ever!
I hope that the transfer to the community driven model will come true, and
I hope you still will be the part of it.
Now it is up to us, the 'community' to decide if we want to keep this great
project alive or let if go I'm ready to participate so
