Dear TSC members,

I am glad to have this opportunity to nominate myself as a vice-chair of ONAP TSC. Based on my previous contributions and experience on running ONAP, I am confident to work together with you and assist our TSC chair Pawel to continue ONAP as a flagship open-source collaboration platform for innovation in network management and orchestration.

I have served as an ONAP TSC member since 12th March, 2020, and lead the team of China Telecom to contribute to ONAP during the last three years. My team and me have first proposed the solution and roadmap of Intent-based Networking based on ONAP architecture. From Honolulu release to Kohn release, I have lead the team to finish five REQs cooperating with CCVPN and E2E Slicing usecases. In Kohn release, an end-to-end demonstration of intent-driven closed-loop autonomous networks has been done to support the application of CCVPN usecase.

Moreover, we align with multiple SDOs and contribute to the drafts of SDOs by the solutions of ONAP. We also collaborate with multiple academic institutes on the research to support the development of ONAP.

Our works have got positive responses from ONAP, industries and academics. For example, in ONAP Marketing Priorities 2021, the Intent-based Networking was commented as a major step towards autonomous networks, for operator and enterprise use cases. I was invited to give a keynote of Intent-based Networking at Fierce Wireless Network Automation Week (https://www.fiercedigitaltechevents.com/fiercedigitaltechevent/network-automation-week) representing ONAP community and China Telecom. I was also invited to attend the IEEE IBN workshop (http://www.adda-association.org/win-2021/Program.html) representing ONAP community to discuss with specialists from IRTF, TMF and ETSI ZSM on Standards and Open Source Tech Talks.

I will continue to lead the team to focus on the research and development of emerging technologies for network operation system based on ONAP.

For intent-driven closed-loop autonomous networks, we will verify the key technologies of intelligent networks based on the scenes of fixed networks, mobile networks and cloud-network convergence by CCVPN and E2E Slicing use cases.

We will also study new technologies, services and applications to focus on the evolution of future networks. Based on the R&D of ONAP, we will provide a reference for the deployment of operators, promote the standardization works, and verify new technologies with academics.

If I can be voted a vice-chair of ONAP TSC, I will play a more influential role in the works and try my best to make more contributions to ONAP. I plan to contribute to ONAP by three targets.

1. An open-source platform for the operators to refer to, in order to deploy and enhance their network operation system. It will be better if more operators would like to integrate part of the code of ONAP to their systems.

2. An open-source platform to promote the standardization works. As known that the solutions of ONAP have already been written into the standards of 3GPP and ITU-T. Our team also lead a ETSI ZSM PoC and a TMF Catalyst based on ONAP.

3. An open-source platform for academic institutes to research the evolution of network operation systems. Several universities have contacted with me and started to collaborate on the research.

We still meet some other challenges to move on the release of ONAP, like integration works and unmaintained projects. Our team and me will also try our best to support those works.

Dear all, hope to get your agreement on the above opinions and we can enjoy our collaboration for ONAP success!

Best regards,
