Has anyone implemented solid state drives on their database servers? If so,
what was your experience? Did it increase response time? Did you put them only
on your database server?

ESI moved out SCLENDS servers to solid state several years ago. It has been
wonderful. Honestly, there are issues I hear about from other consortiums that
are only vague memories to me now related to record retrieval.

Hi Sue,
We recently switched to new database server hardware for our production
environment at the end of May 2014. This included lots of changes though:
faster CPUs with better cache, more memory (and faster too, 1866 MHz,
whee!), but also SSDs for our main storage.
So far, we're still
Colleagues,
As of Tuesday Asbury Seminary is live on Evergreen. We seem to have all the
major components working, so now we are moving into the refining stage.
Can someone please point me to the documentation that describes how to
strip unwanted tags from a bibliographic record when doing a

That's just what the doctor ordered. I take it from the documentation
though that there is no way to filter out MESH, Sears and other Thesaurus
entries.
Is there a way to suppress those entries on the PAC display?

Hello folks,
So I just finished putting up the 2.7.0-alpha1 files to the Evergreen
website's download page. We are a little behind the scheduled date for
alpha1, but the extra time allowed us to close out a few bugs that crept in
and also review and add a few more new features. Here are some
Thanks, Ben! I was just wondering how the schedule was holding up. Homer Public

2.4 was available), is now going to try to keep up with the master releases.
After rereading your June 5 update yesterday, I circled
There is currently no way to limit via indicators. This would require further

Yeah Kelly!
It will be great to have more academic libraries using Evergreen.
Just off the top of my head, here are some areas that I would like to see
refined by academics.
Acquisitions: Order Types.
Types like firm orders, periodical renewals, standing orders for
monographic series, blanket
One more import issue. Is it possible to strip alphabetic characters and/or
initials zeros from incoming OCLC records? Is it possible to include the
OCLC number in the general keyword index but not include the initial
alphabetic characters and zeros?

PAC: Academic flavor.
It might be nice to offer a different look to the PAC that defaults to
a fuller bibliographic description.
This idea is something that I think would be fairly easy to implement by
anyone who can customize the OPAC. You could create an academic_template

Hi,
The Evergreen website will be down for maintenance tomorrow at roughly
4 p.m. EDT. The purpose of the maintenance is to move the VM that
runs the website to the new server that GPLS is kindly lending to the
Evergreen community. I anticipate that the downtime will be on the
order of an hour,
