What would be better than all of these useful scripts floating around
would be if someone would fund development for batch patron loading in
the client.
My understanding is that even if you use LDAP, you still need some kind
of patron record in Evergreen.

That's certainly possible. I do think the overlaying is something that
needs to be considered as a factor in both scenarios though. In a perfect
world things like YAOUS for things like updated expiration dates as well
for refreshed accounts.
