*MySQL Database Administrator*

Our client is seeking to add an individual in a contractor role with strong
prior MySQL Database Administration experience.  You will support the MySQL
database ecosystem that powers our client’s applications, as well as play a
critical role in advising software engineers on scalability and performance
best practices throughout the development process.

*Responsibilities*

This role requires a motivated self-starter who can hit the ground running,
quickly taking on tasks and applying their strong, prior experience to
tackle the challenges presented. This would include:

   - Manage 100+ MySQL Production clusters for availability, performance,
   and reliability required by the application primarily on Linux.
   - Support Dev team in building features that perform at scale, including
   writing and tuning SQL queries
   - Provide second-tier 24x7 support including pager rotation.
   - Troubleshoot database-related application performance issues and
   recommend solutions.
   - Assist in the administration, management, and monitoring of all MySQL
   database systems.
   - Support various internal users in forming optimal queries to fulfill
   their ad-hoc and reporting data needs.
   - Develop scripts and tools to support any or all of the above.
   - Protect the safety and integrity of the database platform and client
   data, through backups and securing of MySQL instances.

*Requirements*

   - 6+ years hands-on experience with managing and administering MySQL DBS
   including clustering.
   - Must possess an understanding of internals, specifically MyISAM and
   InnoDB storage engines, Replication, and Partitioning.
   - Experience with supporting MSSQL and Mongo databases
   - 4+ years of writing and tuning SQL queries.
   - Experience with MySQL 5.0, 5.1, and 5.5 major releases.
   - Experience with Percona XtraBackup.
   - Bachelor degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent.
   - Extremely honed problem-solving and debugging ability.
   - Strong Linux administration skills, CentOS 5.5+ advantageous.
   - Proficiency in BASH scripting and one of Perl/Python/PHP.
   - Familiarity with regular expressions for pattern matching and
   replacement.
   - Understanding of both OLTP and OLAP concepts.
   - Understanding of Java, MySQL Connector/J, and Hibernate concepts.
   - MySQL Certifications valued, but not required.
