*JOB SUMMARY*

Primary responsibilities of the Database Administrator include setup and
configuration, upgrades, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and
security of MySQL and Microsoft SQL database servers.  In addition, this
role includes the development and design of database strategies, system
monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning
for future expansion requirements.



*ESSENTIAL Job Duties & Responsibilities*

   - Manage 40+ MySQL and Microsoft SQL 2008 database servers in a VMware
   virtual environments
   - Collaborate with National MI’s team of in-house and partner
   developers, both locally and offshore, on deploying project and integration
   solutions
   - Troubleshoot database-related application performance issues
   - Assist with the implementation of the data infrastructure to support
   business needs and address security compliance/requirements
   - Ensure security and data integrity of all MySQL and MS SQL database
   instances
   - Deploy and maintain MySQL Enterprise Edition to provide an additional
   layer of backups for point in time recovery when required, and enhanced
   enterprise monitoring
   - Implementation and support of MySQL Fabric for a higher level of
   availability, failover and fail-back automation, and read-only node
   scalability
   - Identify and resolve data issues in partnership with business analysts
   and external vendors ensuring best practices followed
   - Perform routine, periodic and proactive maintenance and database
   security patching
   - Provide on-call support of MySQL solutions
   - Ensures that system documentation is accurate and updated as needed.
   Participates in disaster recovery (DR) exercises as directed


*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*

   - *Strong technical skills in SQL Server 2008 R2 and strong skills in
   T-SQL*


   - *Experience with MySQL as a Database Administrator in an enterprise
   development and production environment*


   - *Basic understanding and experience with SQL Server Analysis Services
   (SSAS)*


   - *Expertise in using SQL Server Management Studio and SQLYog or
   equivalent*


   - *Extensive experience with administration, replication, backup, and
   restore of MySQL and MS SQL databases*


   - *Familiarity with data integration within mixed database environment
   (MS SQL and MySQL)*


   - *Experience developing ETL solutions from multiple data sources into
   MySQL, MS SQL, flat files, XML feeds, JSON, etc.*


   - Basic understanding of data models, logical and physical database
   design, relational databases, database optimization, data replication, and
   data interfaces


   - Prior experience in generating custom data extracts


   - Knowledge of data compliance and privacy standards and regulations as
   they apply to insurance and banking industries


   - Self-motivated, self-directed and shows attention to detail while
   working with data


   - Ability to effectively prioritize and execute reporting tasks in a
   fast-paced, results-driven environment


   - Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with
   a diverse team of business and IT staff
