This candidate will play a key role in the quality assurance of our client’s middle office applications. We are looking for someone who has proven experience with automation of complex applications and a focus on and commitment to automation. This position is in the downtown Portland office with a growing, agile engineering team. - Create test scenarios and implement automated functional test cases that will serve as acceptance test criteria for enhancements and new applications - Work closely with developers and quality assurance members to run test suites and research errors - Work with the support group to reproduce production problems and identify gaps in the regression test suite - Work with developers to utilize and extend custom test harnesses for applications - Find ways to enhance the testing process with new tools, strategies or techniques - Develops and executes test cases - May develop high level test plans - Documents problems identified in testing and reports results - Manages the execution of multiple, complex test plans by preparing assignments, providing training and guidance and reviewing activities to ensure quality standards are met - Diagnoses system problems and recommends solutions - Participates in the definition and design of new systems and enhancements - Serves as a technical, subject matter resource for testing, systems and business line staff - Performs test preparation activities, including developing test schedules and defining expected test results - Compares test results to expected results - Documents and tracks bugs, problems and limitations and retests - Composes and disseminates software release notes prior to production implementation *Skills/Requirements:* - Advanced knowledge of reusable coding patterns and object oriented paradigms as applied to automated testing tools - 1-2 years full-time experience writing in-house production tools or test harnesses with a modern programming language, preferably Java/Junit - One or more years of full-time experience in an iterative development environment using Scrum-like methodologies, with experience of delivering working software to production through the entire lifecycle - Expert knowledge of SQL and relational databases - Intermediate to advanced UNIX knowledge including Shell scripting - Knowledge of XML, HTML, JavaScript and scripting languages - Strong understanding of source code control, specifically cvs or subversion - Ability to quickly troubleshoot and diagnose issues within the quality assurance environment and communicate that knowledge to a varied audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders - Experience testing both client-server and Web based applications through one or more full life cycles of an application - Proven experience with designing and implementing automated load tests for database-backed applications - Proven experience supporting the delivery of multiple versions of one or more applications - Knowledge of financial securities and trading principles, or the strong desire to enter the finance industry - Team oriented attitude - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Engineering, Business or Technology preferred Please send your consultants resumes with: full-name, contact details (phone # and e-mail address), availability, current location (city and state) and hourly rate on C2C.
