The P&C Application Technical Service (ATS) team requires an experienced DBA to support Oracle database applications. Experience in Oracle and MS SQL Server DBA This service performs the following tasks for 450 Oracle databases. . Develop database architecture . Perform database migrations, conversions and upgrades . Design, build, test, and deploy new/changed databases . Maintain and administer databases and supporting automation (e.g. database objects, security roles, capacity, performance tuning, import/export, alert rules) . Support compliance (e.g. SOX), and disaster recovery activities . Resolve database issues (incident and problem management) . Establish database standards . Perform design and code reviews . Automate routine database support tasks . Mentor and train technical staff . Develop and maintain documentation Typical duties include: . Act as project or technical lead for new database designs, and complex production support activities . Mentor less experienced staff, and resolve escalated issues . Create new database designs . Enhance existing database designs for improved longevity, reduced maintenance, and improved performance . Assist with the creation and enhancement of cross-functional database systems . Participate in database design forums in areas of expertise . Perform complex production support activities (e.g. database consolidation) . Resolve complex incidents (e.g. security, performance tuning) . Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new product features . Assist with proactive root cause analysis . Automate routine support tasks . Develop and maintain documentation . Assist with defining solution alternatives, project plans, workload management, resource estimates and status reports . Assist with enforcing database processes, procedures, best practices, standards and SLAs . Maintain awareness of industry best practices . Perform security audits, and implement changes to resolve concerns . Analyze hardware capacity trends, and implement changes to ensure efficient consumption . Follow applicable processes, procedures, policies, standards, best practices, and SLAs . Learn, understand and champion CMMi/ITIL frameworks . Participate in required training and assessments . Integrate process improvements into the way we do our work . Understand responsibilities of function, and change work process to align with revised role descriptions Qualifications: 3+ years of DBA experience in a UNIX/Oracle environment. Advanced knowledge of technical database concepts, such as: physical data modeling and tuning large instances, data replication and backup/recovery. 1+ year experience with upgrades, conversions and consolidation projects. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Preferred: Knowledge of ITIL, CMMi or Six Sigma processes, experience with matrix organizations spanning multiple geographic locations. Other desirable traits: Proactive, responsive, flexible, continuous improvement mindset, team oriented, frequent/clear/concise communicator, positive attitude, customer focus, effective listener.
