*Release EngineerSanta Clara,CALong term contract* *Client is looking for a release engineer with Java or .net background. Any version control experience such as SVN, PVCS etc.Experience with build files/tools (Ant,Maven OR POM).Any scripting languages such as Python, perl is what the client is looking for.* Requirements: Responsibilities: Work with development teams to build, automate and release software for multiple web based products and projects on multiple technologies Java/J2EE .NET Document deployment instructions and maintain the history of production deployments Communicate deployment schedules to stakeholders Own version control of the code base planning, organizing and setting up new products, branching and labeling. We are currently using PVCS (Serena) and BitBucket (from Atlassian). Develop build plans, build scripts and automate for multiple releases Develop and maintain application tools that build, deploy, automate and streamline code management and product delivery process Work closely with development teams to analyze, debug and resolve any build issues Engage closely with remote cross-functional teams including Engineering, QA and Online Content Production and business teams as required. Help with continuous improvement of development processes Key Skills: Minimum of four (4+) years of professional experience in Build and Release engineering, Java/.NET development, product development or testing. Willingness to learn/excel in Build and Release Experience in Build and Release activities using Maven and Ant scripts and automation of such activities Basic programming skills in Java or .NET Knowledge of Version Control concepts such as code lines, branching, merging, integration, versioning, etc. Experience with any industry standard version controls such as SVN, PVCS etc. (experience only in Microsoft Visual Source Safe will not count). Experience with Distributed Version Controls is a plus. Experience in integration/automated tools (Cruise Control, Jenkins, BuildForge, Maven, etc.) Experience with structured build files/tools (Ant, Maven, POM) Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl etc to automate processes is a plus Experience in managing build and release of applications hosted in the cloud is a plus Basic knowledge of RDBMS and writing SQL scripts Hands-on experience with various build scripts development and deployment Strong working knowledge of Windows Operating systems. Linux experience will be a plus. Familiarity with software development life cycles and agile programming methodologies In-depth understanding of large complex software systems to isolate defects, reproduce defects, assess risk and understand varied customer deployments Strong background in SDLC; preferably using Agile methodology.
