Administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the availability, security and integrity of the Mainframe DB2 and Datacom databases. Ability to work in both a team environment and on individual projects is essential. *Responsibilities/Duties:* - Providing Production support of large, 7x24 Mainframe DB2 database supporting active online applications, with rotating on-call duties after hours. - Troubleshooting Production problems and working effectively with other team members to identify and address problems. - Customization of zParms. - Database monitoring and performance tuning tasks. - Researching, testing and coordinating Mainframe DB2 and Datacom patches and upgrades. - Tuning of SQL code and assisting developers in writing and tuning SQL queries. - Testing of new features or 3rd party tools. - Interacting with IBM support to resolve issues. * **Technical Knowledge:* - Experience with Mainframe DB2 v8 and Datacom 11.2. - Experience installing DB2 and Datacom, familiar with SMPE. - Expert knowledge of z/OS. - Experience with SAN storage systems - Experience with Mainframe DB2 data sharing. - Experience using database monitoring tools. - Strong SQL skills. Ability to code and recompile packages and code functions and procedures preferred. Experience in tuning SQL code. - Expertise in DB2 catalogs, recovery, fail-over methods and best practices. - Clear understanding of RDBMS fundamentals and utilities (load/unload, reorg, image copy, etc.). - Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures, and ability to write specifications for applications to be developed. - Exceptional communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills. - Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow clear methodologies for troubleshooting and development. - Ability to support and work within standard software development life cycle practices. *Qualifications:*** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline. - Minimum 5 years experience with verifiable skills on Mainframe DB2 – certifications in recent releases preferred. - Exceptional problem solving skills. - Strong communication skills. - Scripting languages and strong knowledge of IBM Mainframe operating environments.
