Role : Cloud Engineer
Location : Boston, MA
The group these resources are for is in the Corporate Development Ops group
in Waltham, MA. They are migrating client facing apps to AWS to go into full
production. The formal position description is attached and below is other
information we have gathered:
These resources need to be onsite Waltham 5 days a week. Strongly prefer local
candidates. Some of the main skills would need to include AWS and Chef. Their
Dev/Ops team is small, and these individuals would be supporting the growing
organization. These resources would be responsible for building and hardening
the current AWS environment which host customer deployments and apps. Focused
on making them more efficient and automated through the process of those builds
and pro-active monitoring increasing the end-user experience. They need help
using some of the native AWS services like memcache, ELB and making sure their
VPN/VPC connections are sound. They work in an scrum fashion in 2 separate
2 week sprints and deploy through Jenkins tooling.
Key Requirements
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
· Entry Level: 1-3 years; Senior Level: 3-5 years of
system/network/software
engineering experience
* Experience with the AWS suite of products (EC2, CloudFormation, S3, etc.)
including cloud deployment and administration
· Experience in setting up and using server configuration and
management
solutions such as Chef, Puppet or Salt preferred
· Experience with continuous integration (Jenkins, Maven, etc.)
· Experience with scripting languages such asRuby, Python, or Powershell
· Troubleshooting experience on entire layers from network to software
· Experience with monitoring systems, alerting strategies, backup and
disaster recovery
* Experience with computer networking and network security practices
* PCI compliance, scanning, and encryption key management
* Experience with both MySQL/PostgreSQL and NoSQL Databases
* System administration level knowledge of Windows and Linux system.
