one other thing: are you running the vos client on a multihomed host?
and actually, are you running vos one one of the machines in question?
does the problem happen no matter where you run it?

If the source server is compiled with large file support and the sink
server not
then I would expect such an behaviour iwhenever a volume contains large
files.

Does the VolserLog on the source server (marvin) list any messages that shed
light on this? If the dump itself failed (as is reported in the output of
the vos move command), I'd expect the VolserLog on marvin to contain some
messages concerning the reason why the dump failed.
