You can still build for x86_64, you just need a cross compiler. You
won't be able to test they actually work, of course.

There were some early RC RPMs built by others that I think included
x86_64. Multiple parties did test RPMs.

No, 2GB files are supported if you build with
--enable-largefile-fileserver.

Volumes have never been limited to 2GB. Volumes have not had an effective
limit that you're likely to run into for quite a
