During the slowing down of the local activity the afsd is working
and the
AFS File sytem is alive and accessible. The various servers are
alive. The only fact I noticed is the console message connected to
the first access to one of the cells I use:

Hi!
I just encountered a strange problem.
I tried to make a machine account for the OpenAFS database server. I
added the IP as user, added this user to a group and set a volume ACLs
to be read/write by this group.
But the PC is not allowed to access

A quick test from the backup database server showed me: no problem at
all. No wait for access, nothing, it just works.
I believe it takes some time for the change to propagate.

Hi,
I'm having a problem installing openafs-1.4.1-rc5 on my Suse9.3 64-bit
system (running kernel 2.6). The problem seems to have something to do with
the libafs module. I have libafs-2.6.11.4-20a-default.ko, and it seems to be
looking for libafs-2.6.11.4-20a-default.o
Anyone have
anybody here?

Hi,
I have RC5 running on a terminal server, and every day or two, afscreds
claims that the service is not running. Windows thinks it *is* running.
When I try to stop the service (to restart it), it never stops. It
remains in a stopping state. I can use pskill (wininternals) to kill
it,
We are running openafs 1.4.0 with Linux clients.
I want to script a process for shutdown time so that the dot files
from the Linux $HOME directory are copied to the user's openafs space.
But I can't figure how to ask openafs where is that user's space?.
Why this is a problem:

When they log in on the Linux box, what are you using to know
what the user's home directory is (LDAP, /etc/passwd file, etc.)?
That should be your basis.

Actually, your question leads me to confess some idiocy in our setup.

another authentication service like NIS, LDAP, Samba, AD, etc? If so,
can you point me to

If you experience this type of problem please read the release
notes and follow the instructions for debugging openafs for
windows. You want to attach the Microsoft Debugging Tools for
Windows and generate a MiniDump file.
I would suggest placing the MiniDump file somewhere in AFS where
