We just had routine maintenance done to our servers (Solaris 10 on intel). They are running 1.4.6, but when one of the servers came back up it couldn't attach any volumes. This is an inode server. The shutdown seemed to go fine (see end of FileLog.old at end of message), but when it came back

If you have a recent enough patch level that something changed in the ufs code (I don't know this but it's possible) then it may simply not be possible to run inode fileservers anymore on Solaris 10. I know how to replace inode with something which will work almost everywhere; Maybe I should just

Well, I needed access to the files, so I went ahead with salvage, but my worried were well-founded. I got bad results, and none of the volumes were salavaged (see log at end of message). I guess we'll have to go to backups. John % bos salvage jeremiah -partition a -showlog bos: shutting down
