My 2 cents: I had similar problems in 10.5.6, turned out to be a very slow
and/or faulty DNS service. Maybe worthwhile to check.

Thanks for the update, i just had a first case with this problem.
Is apple informed about this (and is there a chance they will change it ?) ?
Is it possible to get a workaround in future versions in case they don’t ?

Hello,
I was wondering if there have been any changes in the status of the openafs
freebsd client, is it ready for production now ?

I was wondering if there are ways to make a windows machine get tokens

I need it for a win server to sync some files to afs every night.

Thanks Jeffrey,
Therefore, if you are providing files to be used simply as read only
templates, they should be stored in AFS in a manner that indicates to
the AFS client that they are in fact readonly so that the cache manager
knows it is safe to fake the locks locally.

Doing so will corrupt the file if both decide to write to it.

Hello,
We just installed some XP machines with the latest 1.5.27 afs client. On
several of them Word crashes badly when trying to open a .doc file on

I run 1.5.25 and havent seen the problem. Could this be a bug in the

Is this on some roadmap i.e. planned for a release ?
We have quite some problems because of poor udp support in adsl routers
and blocked ports in firewalls.

I'm having problems with the client; i can't get a ticket from the
