I'm trying to find out if it's possible to add partitions without restarting
afs fileserver. Is it? And how can I do it? Or is a simple restart not
considered to be downtime?

My guess is that you are using 1.4.x and that the answer is no. The
only way to do this wholly transparent for the

I use lvm2 for the file systems and I were able to resize it without
restarting the service.
Yes, that is of course another possibility because as far as I know
the size of the vicepx file system is not stored anywhere in AFS, you
make the underlying file system bigger, you have more space on
able to resize it without restarting
