Jeffrey & Sven thanks for the help. I had brought the 172.17 interfaces
down but upon further inspection there was still enough information
lying around which the fileserver must have been picking up. So I
removed that and restarted the fileserver and everything works.

environments if we forgot to configure the NetRestrict NetInfo files before
starting the server. i used that procedure several times .. on modern hardware
it takes less than 5 sec to finish. i wouldn't name that really outage

I had two afs file servers which were multihomed:
deedee.keneli.org & 172.17.193.2
dharma.keneli.org & 172.17.193.3
I have since removed the 172 interfaces on these two machines and I
would like to get openafs to stop using those addresses for things.
