I tried increasing the timeout to 90 per a faq I found on the
mailscanner website, but it didn't help the problem. I will try to
throw a faster machine together to test.

Yes, I believe it is the custom Spamassassin rulesets that are using
more memory. One change that has been discussed on the MailScanner
mailing list is to stop using the BigEvil ruleset and replace it with
Mail::SpamAssassin::SpamCopURI .

ClamAV installs OK, and then SpamAssassin installs OK. The error
