You need to enable three services to enable mounting of nfs via vfstab at boot:
nfs/nlockmgr
nfs/status
nfs/client
I noticed that nfs/client was still offline after boot, but once I mounted
manually, I got
those three services online.

I should preface this by saying that while I've used Solaris 10 for 3
years a developer, I'm a very novice sysadmin.
I'm very strongly considering using OI for a production deployment.
One requirement however is that it run inside VirtualBox so that
developers and create a VM for development

Solaris documentation, would Solaris 11 Express be the the most
similar to OI (as opposed to Solaris 11 say)? Are there bits that
don't apply besides the lack of stuff related to KVM for example?
