32-bit?

How do I safely clean them up?

I can confirm this also.
I use midnight commander as root sometimes.
.cache/mc directory will become owned by root.
I use command line options to reset it when needed.
This does not happen when I use Devuan or OpenBSD.

With the Mate update, rendering will go crazy at times.
You can change the theme in the editor preferences to make it problem go

I have to say the build and package environment is one of the best in
open source but takes some time to learn.
It is really worth it though.
I find it the best laid out one for the casual user who wants his own
packages.
I would use more but my machines are old and slow.

pkg update killed my older desktop today.
I was able to download text installer and go through irc
on a latop with no hard drive and a bootable flash drive and learn
how to access to rpool data.
I then tried to update older laptop and same thing happened
Both machines amd64 around 2009.
