I run 5.2.12 on 2017.10 without significant problems. USB and CDROM access is
unreliable, so I use images on disk. It's a bit of a nuisance, but it lets me
use the scanner in the Brother 3 in 1 without a lot of hassle and I can run

The nVidia driver is not open source, though you don't have to use it.
However, it is so much better than the open source driver it's crazy not to use
it.
I did a 2019.04 install 2 weeks ago for a friend because I could not get the
nVidia driver to install on Debian 9.3. It was the default dri
FWIW I installed the 2019.04 release from USB last week. It *must* be copied to
the bare device, not to a disk partition. e.g. /dev/dsk/c3t0d0p0, *not*
/dev/dsk/c3t0d0p0:c.
The machine was an 8 core Dell with nVidia graphics. I was unable to get Debian
9.3 to work with the nVidia drivers b
