This seems to be a problem when Qt invokes the native dialog (Gnome's
dialog, in this case) and passes the filter through to the dialog. It
seems like we'll just have to work around it for now.

I think now, it is not a unicode problem. Look at the config file I
actually use: It has the same direcory and it works fine.
I also checked If the files wich are linked in the corrupted config,
still exist. They do.

I found out where the problem is: Something was wrong with the config
file in ~/.config/OpenLP/
I renamed the folder, and Openlp started again. So the bug that has to
be found is the one, that messed up the config file. It is possible that
it has to do with the directories.

But the unknown Author is not called 'Author' with surname. Just give empty
strings for the first and second name. It is no problem to leave these strings
empty. Only the display name has to be set.
Ah, well. I would correct your mentioned error in _process_author() by adding
empty first and sec

right after I opened OpenLP, I saved the oos (empty), I then went to
open and instead of the file type filter being set to OpenLP service
files, it was blank - all files were being displayed...after manually
changing this drop down to OpenLP service files, no files were displayed
anymore...but ther

Open OpenLP, go directly to Settings/Configure OpenLP and make any change and
press ok. Close program and the "Save Changes to Service?" dialog pops up even
though I never touched anything else but Configure.

I can easily changed this here, but there are other places where it cannot be
done easily.
In plugins/songs/lib/songimport.py in finish(self) we have a list with authors,
if the list is empty we add "Author unknown". Later we loop over this list and
add the authors to the song.
