Today when I retried it via the app icon, it bounces in the dock but
never displays anything, even after 5 min,

it was using a Applications dir under my username which is empty.

Can you try running OpenLP from the Terminal and post the result?
Open the Terminal (it should be in your "Applications/Utilities" folder or
search for it with Spotlight).
Enter "./Applications/OpenLP.app/Contents/MacOS/OpenLP -l debug" without the
quotes and post anything output in the Terminal

I am currently unable to run openlp on my MBP OS X 10.9, either v2.0.3 or any
previous version.
Prior to installing 2.0.3 all previous versions ran fine.
