It is apparently not necessary but the sharing is extremely buggy (unusable)
without it.

Hi, after much debugging I discovered that although I had installed the
newer swftools it was not actually being used. Now that it is being used all
my problems are fixed!

I have created screenshots of the sharing and receiving desktops using OM
revision 2736 and swftools revision 2042. OM is sharing more of the source
desktop than is indicated in the Desktop Sharer and not all portions of the
screen are shared. The connection rate actually looks pretty good at ~80KB
My current setup is a fast web server and two fast workstations, all in the
same building over 10MB ethernet. Since we regularly use Skype/TurboVNC I
know our connection is quite good. The first workstation is sharing its
desktop, the second one is viewing it. The second workstation never sees all
