The first argument is that for the real serial number we have to open the device, check for device capabilities and then read the real serial number instead of just reading the serial number of the USB device descriptor. The other argument is that the enumeration serial number can be changed, which may be useful in some setups. However, if not changed the real and enumeration serial numbers are the same for all the newer devices.
