Any objections to merging?
I'd like testing feedback on this patch that it does not break anything.
If the -rtos option is not specified on the target, then there should be
only trivial innocuous changes in code paths.

There are some coding style problems in the patch. I think it should
be checked before merging.

I'm weighing that against the testing that the code has seen
Perhaps we should commit it as is and then accept patches for coding
style ch
