It's not letting me install the newest version. when I use terminal to open it,
it opens it but terminal says this:

That solved the problem with video effects but It still has issues every
so often where when I try to play then it closes out unexpectedly. I
reopen the program and try to do anything besides open an existing
project or import stuff then it closes out again. my only remedy for
this is to reboot my
You are using a very old version of Openshot, you might consider
upgrading to the latest version (1.3.1). You should check you have the
frei0r-plugins package installed, it was missing from the 1.1.3 package
if I remember correctly.
