is there an in-built way to track installs/uninstalls of an app?
if not, is there a standard way everyone's been doing it?

OpenSocial isn't down as of this writing (i've seen an error "bad, bad
server, no donut for you" sometimes but that never lasted for more
than a few minutes). Are you getting an error of some kind?
