Messages is what you can only create (send) and not retrieve.. however
sending messages isn't supported on many containers (due to an
understandable fear of abuse/spam).

I understood what you are trying to do, and yes, you should use REST and
RPC. Activities is not a good example, since you just can post, not get the
activities.
