In general, the email turnaround time is between one and three days regardless of whether you just submitted your application or are waiting on a re-review. This slipped last week, but everything is back on track now, and you should have received your review (or re-review) by now if you submitted last week. We appreciate your patience as we work through the backlog.
Because the review process can take several days, it's in your best interest to make sure your application is perfect before you submit it in the first place. There is a fairly straightforward process to follow: 1. Make sure your app is fully tested. All of its features should work, and no errors should appear in the Firebug console. You should make sure both profile and canvas view are complete (yes, your app should have both views!) and tested with several users, including those who have the app installed and those who don't. One common mistake is not testing your applications with users who don't have the app, which is very important use case. Since the VIEWER object is not available in this context, it's important that you distinguish between guest viewers and those who have your app installed. 2. Make sure your application follows ALL of the developer guidelines at http://code.google.com/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguidelines.html. This means no ads on the profile, no horizontal or vertical scroll bars, no trademarked names or logos, and no inappropriate content. 3. We're only accepting apps that have a social or self-expressive function. Submitting a simple game or an app that simply shows videos won't cut it unless you're willing to add high scores to your game (and show your friends' high scores/ranking), enable videos to be shared and commented on, and so forth. If your app meets the three general heuristics above, you should have no trouble getting approved the first time.
