Blastwave has it's own trade-offs. God help you if you install everything and
then want to install/deinstall the OSS driver with /opt/csw in your path. Not
to mention the wacky 'pick a uid' lottery that goes with package installs that
require one... Picking from the bottom up would make sense

But you have some presumptions in the startup area, such as
(a) there is an existing opsys on the computer, and
(b) that one would wish to boot from C: (or one of the hard drives).

If we were to write-protect the SD card, would that then protect the boot track
from viruses?
We can't write protect CF cards or thumb drives (not that I can find on mine,
anyway), but the SD cards come with a sliding tab on the edge (just like the
3.5 floppies did).
