I downloaded the iso image and figured out how to burn it .. boot it and stuff.
I ran into this when I was trying to figure out why my network ports
were not being detected, or configured via DHCP or why they were not
working at all.
I was looking and see this :
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ifconfig -a
on what version are you using it?
here works fine too (b86)

I've got code I'd like to contribute but can't really start the process until I
get my reference number...

And I don't have this problem on my freshly-installed RC3
try do disable the xscreensaver and use
$ xlock -mode blank
instead, and see if that helps.

We need to do some database maintenance, so the opensolaris.org site will
be offline briefly starting around 9:00 - 9:15 am PDT today (Wednesday).
We expect the outage to last no more than 15 minutes.

the SAS card seem a lot more expensive
As due to the SAS spec you can put sata devices on with no problems.
Cables that come in the box should do.

I know I could disable compiz. Like I say, I'm just trying things out.
It works very well on this box, and Sun Ultra 40, and starts off

Niveditha sent me a hot tip:
Do as above:
$ su -
# svcadm disable gdm
(login again to a command console)
$ su -
# /usr/X11/bin/Xorg -configure
# cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and add the line to the Section "Device":
Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"
