Case solved, with the hint from Ginn to look at the sound configuration.
Upgraded to nv_121, no change.

Did a full reinstall with osol-1002-121-x86.iso (I upgraded before from
OpenSolaris 2009.06 - which seemed to have caused the issues I had) and now VNC
Server is working again.

I installed a non-global zone on my OpenSolaris system (snv_111b) via
zoneadm install and I notice that there a bunch of packages were not
installed that are in the global zone of the running BE. Is there a way
I can create and install a zone so that it has all the packages found in
the global

your custom menu system would be job #1. Do not know whether you've been there.
And there are a bunch of tty properties you can get from svccfg -s console-login
listprop.
Probably your menu script need to set the tty
I must say I agree, this release fixed some little quirks that I hadn't yet
got around to reporting.
Very polished and it can only get better as we move closer to release!
