i think it has something to do with the move to modular Xorg, but i've been
trying to run mplayer on both snv_59 (clean install from sxde DVD) and
opensolaris_b60 (bfu'd from 59). that package always worked fine on 57. i can
start gmplayer and it works until i try and play a movie-- i can go in
dhcp did this to my hosts file. before i had a /etc/hostname.iwi0 and
/etc/dhcp.iwi0 my hosts file looked like this:

127.0.0.1localhostloghostdesiderata
i rebooted many times and ran 'ifconfig iwi0 dhcp' many times. networking

didn't have any network interface plumbed-- i thought it might be network

i've launched smc under cde and gnome on a fresh nevada 59 install and it hard
locks the machine all 3 times i tried it. has anyone else experienced this?

i just installed sxce last night and saw that iwi support was not there-- i
know i can get it from the wireless page, but for the last few releases i
remember it just being there. was it removed from the standard install image
for this build or an earlier one? just curious...

i have a machine with a disk that has some sort of defect and i've found that
if i partition only half of the disk that the machine will still work. i tried
to use 'format' to scan the disk and find the bad blocks, but it didn't work.
