What does:
-bash-3.2$ ls /etc/nsswitch.*
/etc/nsswitch.ad/etc/nsswitch.files /etc/nsswitch.nisplus
/etc/nsswitch.conf /etc/nsswitch.ldap
/etc/nsswitch.dns /etc/nsswitch.nis
-bash-3.2$
give? And, what does
-bash-3.2$ grep hosts /etc/nsswitch.conf
#
I've edited /etc/resolv.conf and added the nameservers... But I still can't
resolve the hosts' IPs...
It seems that everything is okay... I just can't understand what is going wrong.
Thank you for your help!

Hi!
I used your suggestions and could install the modem.
But I still have a problem: I connect to my ISP but I can't use the Internet.
If I try to ping to a host name (e.g. www.kanguru.pt) it gives me ping:
unknown host www.kanguru.pt
If I try to ping directly to an IP address it works fine.
In order to be able to resolve hostnames, youneed to also add a nameserver to
the config.
In Solaris that's done by adding the ISP's nameserver to a file called:
-bash-3.2$ cat cat /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver ip-address-of ISP's-nameserver
-bash-3.2$
You could also use a static one, like

The link above should help you.
Also try google the name of your modem +opensolaris.
Huawei modems work fairly well.
