James Falkner proposed [8] a new project to modify Solaris packaging and patching utilities to enable them to be used by ordinary users with no
special privileges, mentioning [9] that this technology would be entirely

Sara Dornsife mailed [10] mentioning that nominations were open for the first annual OpenSolaris contributor awards, closing June 12th.

Andrew Gallatin proposed [11] a new project, MXGE, to port a proprietary,
vendor supplied Solaris GLDv2 ethernet driver for the Myricom 10GE NIC to an
OpenSolaris GLDv3 driver. Robert Thurlow proposed [12] a CIFS client for 
Solaris, a
virtual file system on Solaris providing access to servers which support the CIFS protocol, which is the natural file sharing protocol on Windows; Samba on Unix/Linux is a CIFS server implementation.
