I have also experienced an awfully cold package manager myself, and this was
pretty good advice.

I just wanted to try out the new OpenSolaris and had less trouble with my
Atheros- and sound-drivers on my HP pavilion dv6772. Works better than on
Ubuntu :-)))
After two weeks the Package Manager freezes. It's impossible to get updates.

Do you have accessibility enabled? We just fixed some bugs related to
package manager and the fix is in next build.
To check the accessibility status, you can go to preference--Universal
Access. You may disable it, logout and try again.

It's on your desktop Preferences menu. In more recent builds of
OpenSolaris (those based on GNOME 2.23/24), the name changed to
Assistive Technologies.
