Many of LSI's HBA's can be flashed to change their firmware. I've got a LSI SAS3081E-R, its a PCI-e x8 card which I have in a x16 slot on a ASUS M2A-VM, uses the mpt driver as reported above. I've flashed it with their Initiator/Target (IT) firmware which replaces the Integrated Raid (IR) firmw

LSI 3800X, PCI-X card, also compatible with 64bit PCI at 66 Mhz, I've used it now for 2 years in an Ultra 80, SunBlade 1000 and a 280R, supports OpenBoot so you can boot off any hard drive connected to it you like. Can't flash upgrade the board though, the tools to do so, only exist on Windblo
