This mail is sent to Bangalore open Solaris user group with a request to
forward / communicate to campus ambassadors / heads of departments of colleges
and student members.

My company, Isolated Networks, is based in Erode, Tamilnadu and is working on
installing solaris on X86 platforms.

We want to work with Solaris User Groups in colleges in Erode, Salem and
Coimbatore District of Tamilnadu and possibly other regions as well.

We have some interesting projects to be offered to interested college students
familiar with and interested in Sun Solaris. The projects range from simple
installation tasks on X86 desktops/notebook computers to a little more complex
task of stripping down Solaris to a sub 256 MB O/S.

We prefer to have students visiting our premises to work on the installation in
consistent and convenient intervals. The project tasks would be well defined
and assigned to students based on a recommendation from the Head of the
Department of their colleges.

The projects / project modules would be of considerable interest to students
and the contributions by each participating student would be recorded and
communicated in open solaris and sun forums for due credit and appreciation.

The company is taking shape as a manufacturer of standalone computers and it is
likely that some of the talented students would be offered placements within
the company in due course.

The opportunities available are 1) two full time short duration ( 3 months )
position for two students with expertise in Solaris installation and
administration. These two positions would carry a stipend. 2) three or more
part time project positions on site for students who would commit to spend at
least two days a week for three months, four to six hours each time. These
positions are open to those students who require an opportunity for a good
academic project of hands on experience, These part time positions do not carry
a stipend. 3) three part time on site / off site positions for students skilled
in Java. There are some Java projects to be offered.

Thank you
